Aaron Shavel, PE

Policy Fellow


Aaron Shavel is a civil engineer with over a decade of experience in construction, engineering management, and design-build project delivery.

He has worked with top NYC General contractors, specializing in the construction and rehabilitation of railroad facilities and stations. His portfolio includes major projects such as the Moynihan Train Hall, 2nd Ave Subway, LIRR Elmont Station, MTA Signal Modernization, Enhanced Station Initiatives, and ADA Upgrade Projects. These challenging projects have provided firsthand experience on what it takes to build our infrastructure and the obstacles facing our built environment.

Aaron approaches infrastructure as both a technical challenge as well as a vital policy issue. He strongly advocates for collaboration between public and private sector partners to overcome challenges and ensure the successful delivery of essential infrastructure. Aaron aims to serve as a bridge between infrastructure policy decision-making and the AEC industry.

Aaron earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has a NY-State Professional Engineering License and holds DBIA Professional Certification from the Design-Build Institute of America. He is a proud NYC resident and avid public transit rider.
